Bring the glow of autumn indoors with the Rust Olive Arts & Crafts Donegal Oriental area rug from LoomBloom, a traditional hand tufted wool runner offered in multiple sizes. Deep rust forms the ground, and over it come trees in terracotta and branches of soft gold, with teal willows adding a cool, fresh counterpoint to all that warmth. Around the edge, an olive border gathers the same earthy tones and introduces rosettes in red and orange, while black accents lend the palette a crisp, grounded finish. This is a handmade rug with true storytelling character. The Donegal and Arts & Crafts heritage shows in the stylized trees and flowing branches, and hand tufted wool gives the design a rich, tactile quality that makes the colors look deep and inviting. Rust, olive, terracotta and gold are earthy tones that feel classic yet lively, so this statement piece sets a warm mood wherever it lands. Lay this wool runner along the length of a space in your living room, bedroom, dining room, entryway or home office, and let it add traditional style with a modern sense of ease. Artisan-made and endlessly welcoming, it is a design you will want to come home to.

Story Behind the Art: Ireland's rug industry began in the late 1800s, when Morton & Company started producing rugs in Donegal. Rugs made there in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries were known for richly decorative motifs given a distinctly Irish interpretation, borrowing from Oriental and Persian rug designs as well as from Celtic art. Donegal weavers also absorbed ideas from popular movements of the day, including Arts & Crafts and Art Nouveau. With their expansive compositions and singular character, Donegal rugs are valued for how easily they suit a wide range of decor styles.
