Earlier Sarouk carpets frequently displayed intricate all-over patterns such as Herati and Gul Hennai designs, executed with closely organized motifs over sturdy foundations. During the late 19th century, the visual language evolved as more formal compositions featuring central floral medallions and carefully balanced symmetry became increasingly prominent.
