Hand knotted in Iran, this antique Kerman runner epitomizes the refinement and complexity of Persian weaving. The boteh motif—symbolizing abundance and continuity—gracefully repeats along the length of the rug, guiding the viewer’s eye from one end to the other. A balanced color composition of navy, pink, ivory, coral, turquoise, and brown brings richness and elegance to its elongated form. The low, even pile reveals a timeworn softness that accentuates its antique patina. Expertly restored and professionally cleaned, it remains structurally strong and visually striking. Designed for hallways or gallery-like interiors, this Kerman runner unites harmony, craftsmanship, and historical legacy in a piece that enriches any refined space.

Story Behind the Art: Kerman rugs take their name from the famed city in southeastern Iran, a powerhouse of workshop weaving since the Safavid period (1501–1732). Many exhibit floral or architectural borders framing a medallion field, while others explore Shah Abbasi medallion-and-corner formats, garden layouts, vases, tree-of-life and hunting scenes, or allover boteh and floral repeats—even stripes. The best-known Kerman types include the vase and boteh rugs, where vases or botehs are scattered across a field alive with blossoms and palmettes. Celebrated for exceptionally fine weave, delicate drawing, and an unmatched spectrum of colors, Kerman pieces can require more than a year to produce—often incorporating 15 to 30 distinct hues in a single rug.
