Made in its namesake city, the rug is a stunning composition of technique, craftsmanship and design. The natural wool adds not only years to the rug, but also provides dirt-repellent qualities and thermal insulation. With a rich Color palette, the rug is a visual delight with an inner field studded with a beautifully ornate medallion and classic corner brackets. The border is handsome and complements the inner field. The overall impression is one of uber sophistication, timeless beauty, and exquisite craftsmanship. Story Behind the Art: Dating back to 19th century, Bhakhtiari Rugs originated in west central Iran and are considered to represent tribal and village tradition of Persian rug making. These rugs combine geometric patterns with Persian floral motifs in a unique fusion that Bhaktiari rugs have become famous for. Most famous amongst Bhaktiari rug designs is the Khesti (garden motif) where the rug is divided into squares with plants and animals, symbolizing the Persian garden with accompanying medallions and life tree-motifs.
